Tettenhall College pupils and community were treated to a visit by the Ralph Porrett Trio – a young professional jazz trio from London on Tuesday 6th May 2025. Ralph has been a featured finalist on the BBC Young Jazz Musician competition in 2020 and 2022 and came to Tettenhall College to present an Improvisation Workshop for our guitarists and drummers, followed by a live performance of brand-new original material to a very appreciative audience in Towers Theatre.
Our pupils were perfect ambassadors for the school and Ralph’s trio were very impressed with the maturity and skills with which they applied themselves in the workshop and they could see the budding talent we have here at school.
The trio’s evening performance was exquisitely arranged, presenting fresh and original contemporary jazz artistically fused with elements of rock and dream pop. The relaxed atmosphere in Towers Theatre really made it feel like we were at a jazz gig in the heart of the capital, and everyone left with a smile!
Ralph’s trio are recording in the studio in June so will be available to stream later in the year on Spotify and Apple Music.
