Christopher McAllister
Headmaster
Christopher McAllister has 25 years’ experience in the education sector, with over 10 years of senior leadership in HMC and thriving ISA day and boarding schools in the UK. His strong belief in the growth and development of the whole child, as a global citizen, was forged early in his career, teaching in West Africa, after graduating from Leeds University. As a Head of Philosophy, he piloted the Cambridge Pre-U as an academically stretching alternative to A Levels, before their latest reforms. He also spent time working as an Oxbridge coach. His passion for curriculum development and academic excellence has remained constant. The need to challenge and develop each child to the best of their abilities and strengths is central to his educational philosophy. As Headmaster of Tettenhall College since January 2020, Christopher has led the growth and development of this thriving co-educational, independent, day and boarding school. The College’s boarding facilities have recently been expanded and fully refurbished as well as sustained development of the College’s heritage buildings and academic facilities for learners of all ages.
Outside of school, Christopher relishes any opportunity to combine his passion for travel and good food, and loves every chance to host friends and family.

Christopher Way
Bursar
After completing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Christopher Way joined the Royal Air Force as an Engineering Officer in a career spanning 25 years in various roles across the globe. After leaving the RAF, he joined Tettenhall College in 2012 where he now oversees all financial and operational matters. He has been instrumental in major developments at the College, including the refurbishment of the boarding houses, the installation of a state-of-the-art astroturf pitch, and the ongoing restoration of the school’s Grade II* listed Towers building.
Christopher’s commitment to excellence ensures the school continues to thrive both operationally and strategically. Outside of school, Christopher is a committed vintage car enthusiast.

Caroline Troughton
College Deputy Head & Head of Senior School
Caroline Troughton joined Tettenhall College in 2022 and brings a wealth of teaching and leadership experience, driven by her passion for delivering high-quality education. She trained as a teacher in the UK before embarking on an international career spanning 15 years with teaching roles in China, Mexico, Czech Republic and Italy. Upon returning to the UK, she joined Tettenhall College to continue her work in education.
Holding a BSc (Hons) Molecular Biology and a Masters degree in Forensic Science, Caroline began her career as a science teacher, quickly advancing to Head of Science. Her dedication and expertise led to leadership roles such as Assistant Principal and Head of Secondary, Vice Principal and Head of Campus and Principal in previous positions.
Outside the classroom, Caroline enjoys photography, scuba diving and travelling.
Justin Gomersall
Head of Preparatory School Division
Justin Gomersall, Head of Tettenhall College Preparatory school has over 20 years’ experience in the education sector, including 13 as a senior leader. He is a committed and enthusiastic educator with a wealth of expertise in the early and primary years.
Having begun his teaching career in the Oxfordshire countryside, Justin moved to Switzerland to gain international teaching experience. After returning to the UK, he served as Deputy Headmaster at Chase Grammar Preparatory school for five successful years. This was followed by a role as Deputy Head at a struggling Wolverhampton school, where his leadership helped transform it into one of the best state schools in the area. This experience deepened Justin’s passion for continual school improvement, a commitment he brings to his role at Tettenhall College.
Justin takes great pleasure in leading a team dedicated to shaping the future of young learners, overseeing their progress academically and personally, and ensuring a nurturing and inspiring environment for all pupils.
Victoria McAllister
Director of Admissions & External Relations
With a degree in Politics and a Master’s in International Relations from the University of Nottingham, Vicky McAllister has always had a keen interest in the wider world.
Ahead of her roles as an Admissions Director, her career began working in both personal and corporate finance, before taking on a management role in Executive Search with the global recruitment firm Michael Page. Circumstances then provided an opportunity to establish a new position in an HMC boarding school, where Vicky led the Admissions, Marketing, Communication and Development team for six years. This, alongside her current role as Admissions Director, has allowed her to travel widely and establish a broad range of partners with whom she works with. Vicky thoroughly enjoys sharing the news of Tettenhall College and meeting new and current pupils, who will join a school focused on their individual growth and success.
Amanda Marshall-Walker
Assistant Head, Preparatory School
Amanda Marshall-Walker began her career as a graphic designer, working for a children’s book publisher in London, before returning to the Midlands to establish her own design business. Over time, her entrepreneurial spirit led her to open a gift shop and gallery, where she also undertook painting commissions.
A passion for education inspired Amanda to return to university to complete a teaching degree. She then enjoyed 13 successful years at King’s Hawford, where she served as Head of Girls’ Games, Maths Lead, and Assistant Head.
As Assistant Head of the Preparatory School at Tettenhall College, Amanda is dedicated to inspiring students. Her focus on teaching and learning is driven by a desire to help every child achieve their potential, celebrating the ‘light bulb moments’ that mark their discovery
Daniel Matthews
Assistant Head (Academic)
Daniel Mathews is Assistant Head (Academic) and Subject Leader of Business and Economics. Daniel holds a BSc in Economics and LLM with a focus on the impact of competition policy and regulatory framework. His early career was spent in the financial services industry, gaining valuable experience working with both consumer and commercial lenders.
After transitioning into education, Daniel completed an NPQSL on whole school assessment policies and implementation. He worked for several years in inner-city Birmingham schools before moving to Tettenhall College.
Outside of school, Daniel is a keen traveller and a devoted supporter of the Welsh Rugby Union.
Simon Sherratt
Assistant Head
(Pastoral)
Simon Sherratt joined Tettenhall College in 2024 with nearly 20 years of teaching experience in the UK and internationally. In the UK he worked at Notre Dame High School, an outstanding Catholic School and Oldbury Wells School, Bridgnorth. Internationally, Simon has worked in schools in Bangkok and Manila. Simon has held leadership positions, including Head of Senior School, showcasing a deep commitment to student well-being, pastoral care, and fostering collaborative school communities.
Simon is passionate about creating an environment that prioritises outstanding pastoral care and student well-being, collaborating with the whole school community to support success. He is also a dedicated safeguarding advocate, working in alignment with government initiatives to engage parents, students, staff and external agencies in ensuring the safety and success of every student.
Matt Jackson
Head of Boarding and Boys’ House Parent
Matthew Jackson is a highly experienced teacher of physical education across all year groups including GCSE and A Level, as well as Head of Boarding and House Master. Matthew holds numerous qualifications in boarding, safeguarding and a BEd (hons) in Secondary Education specialising in physical education and information technology.
Matthew’s professional passions include coaching and introducing new sports, promoting outdoor and adventurous activities, fostering leadership among pupils, enhancing staff development and safeguarding and organising school trips and charity events.
Outside of work, Matthew enjoys cooking, traveling, motorsport, football coaching, and spending time with animals and in nature.
