The Kitchen in the school's Boarding facilities

Boarding

Families are attracted to boarding at Tettenhall College for different reasons. For some it is the picturesque setting and facilities, whilst others value the cosmopolitan atmosphere and sense of family that is to be found in our boarding houses.

Our West Midlands location, in the heart of England and close to Birmingham, means that we are very easy to reach, whether you are coming from elsewhere in the UK or from overseas. The road and rail network is excellent, London is less than two hours away and we are within an hour of both Birmingham and Manchester International Airports.

Students can board between the ages of 10 and 18, with this enriching opportunity adding an exciting dimension to school life and supporting a pupil’s journey towards independence and maturity.

Full, weekly and flexi boarding are all available. Our accommodation is modern, warm and homely. All pupils have their own bed, desk, wardrobe and storage space. Younger pupils will share rooms, an aspect of boarding which they absolutely love. Older pupils will have the opportunity to choose a single study bedroom, although many are still keen to share, with all the camaraderie and support that this brings.

Our committed team of House Parents ensure that care, support and a liberal dose of fun are provided to make boarding such a very special experience. Once Prep has been completed of an evening, activities, sport and relaxation are important as everyone takes stock of their busy day. Our weekend programme combines socialising, excursions, local outings and time for further study, all dependent on the stage that our pupils are at in their educational journey.

Summer 2021 saw the unveiling of a spectacular renovation project to School House which now offers some of the very best accommodation in the UK for boarders.

“Our son has been boarding over the past term intermittently. He has absolutely loved it, feels safe and happy and all credit should go to your boarding team particularly Mr Jackson. I’m sure he will do more in the autumn – flexi boarding is fabulous and a wonderful ‘bridge’ before going off to university … for both parents and pupils!”

“The diverse group of young people who make up this community relish every opportunity to talk with enthusiasm about their boarding experience, relating both to each other and adults with easy confidence and politeness.”
