Nursery

Provision for the youngest Tettenhallians is excellent. Our staff, facilities and ethos are second to none and the learning journey pupils start here lays the foundation for bright futures.

Children can join our Nursery once they have had their second birthday. They will then progress through to our Pre-School in the September following their third birthday, in readiness for all that is to come when they join our Reception class, the September following their fourth birthday.

When your child joins the Nursery or Pre-School at Tettenhall College Preparatory School, they will be given daily opportunities to explore, play and develop in a caring, nurturing environment. During this key Discovery stage, each pupil shares their daily learning with a small, familiar and happy group of peers who explore our beautiful nursery and magical outdoor woodlands as they play.

As the children in our Nursery progress through to our Pre-School class, subtle but important changes of routine and classroom structure start to prepare each person for the learning journey ahead. Our Pre-School children work to weekly topics and explore themes through a variety of skills. They start their weekly swimming lessons in our on-site pool and take a lovely daily walk up to the College Dining Room where sharing food with friends and others is an important part of the day.

Once you have applied for your child’s place in Nursery or Pre-School, we will arrange a time for you to come and visit and spend a ‘Welcome Session’ with our team. It is a lovely opportunity for children to come and play and start those first steps towards settling in and making new friends. This visit is also a chance for our staff to spend one to one time with parents, to learn more about their child, record important milestones and information, and putting everything in place for when they join. We are pleased to offer settling in sessions to make sure both children and parents are familiar and comfortable with all that is to come.

We do request that children joining either Nursery or Pre-School at Tettenhall College Preparatory School complete a minimum of 5 sessions (half days) per week. Please speak to our Admissions team who will be very happy to talk this through with you.

“The contribution of the early years provision to children’s well-being is outstanding.”
