Open Day

University Life Skills with Mr Leighton

Posted: 18th June 2020

At the start of term a season of pre-university classes were set up to support the Year 13’s in their transition from school to university. These sessions were incredibly important considering all the discussion about the closure and timed re-opening of universities and all of the uncertainties presented by the Covid 19 pandemic. Through these regular meetings Mr Leighton was able to impart valuable advice to the Year 13s’ so they are able to make informed, rather than rash, decisions.

Presentations were made by Mr Leighton covering many essential areas ranging from student loans, results day, Clearing Plus and Self-release, accommodation, what to pack and take, living costs, best things about university life and potential problems experienced when moving away from home, virtual tours, best student apps, through to student recipes on a budget.

All materials and links have been shared with the Year 13’s, so that they can draw upon them whenever they wish to.
