GSCE success for Tettenhall College

Tettenhall College pupils were celebrating today after an achieving excellent GCSE results, with a significant increase in the top A and A* grades.

Eighty-five per cent of pupils gained five A*-C grades, compared with 81 per cent last year. In addition, 42 per cent of grades were at A* and A, improving on last year’s performance of 29 per cent.

Top performing pupils included Anisha Aujlay (4 A*, 7A), Eve Foley (6 A*, 5A) and Elizabeth Harvey (8 A*, 2A). Sixty per cent of pupils gained 10 or more GCSEs at A*-C.

Headmaster David Williams said he was very pleased with the results and congratulated all pupils.

“This has been a strong year for us, with some excellent performances,” he said. “Our GCSE pupils have worked very hard and deserve their success. We are particularly pleased to see an increase in A and A* grades, which is testament to our small class sizes and dedicated staff.

“As a non-selective school, we pride ourselves on helping pupils develop academically, socially and creatively to become well-rounded individuals. We help every pupil achieve their personal best and staff and students are always prepared to go the extra mile. These top level results are the icing on the cake.”

The results follow on from last week’s A-level success, where 25% of pupils achieved the top A*/A grade.
