Best Foot Forward Challenge

Posted: 2nd July 2015

Tettenhall College is very proud to be one of the founder patrons of Best Foot Forward, a unique Charity Event being organised by the Rotary Club of Wolverhampton.

The event takes place on Saturday 12th July at Aldersley Leisure Village and although our school year will be over by then we are hoping parents and pupils will join in the fundraising for Compton Hospice, the Rotary Charitable Trust and Children in Need.

So What’s It All About?

BEST FOOT FORWARD is an event when citizens young and old, both able-bodied and those with disabilities, with wheelchairs, with pushchairs, will all be able to clock up circuits of the track – knowing that you will be releasing funds for the benefit of highly deserving local charities.

You can spend as long as you like within the 12 hours of the event and return as often as you choose, with a personal chip keeping tally of how many laps you have done.

Every one of those laps will be releasing funds which have been donated by companies and organisations in our city in order to build a prize fund which you can unlock for the benefit of three charities – Children in Need, Compton Hospice and the Rotary Charitable Trust.

This event, unique in the UK, brings together the opportunity to take exercise at your own pace, in your own time and for as long as you are inclined, while at the same time knowing that the calories you are burning off are going to improve the life of others.

Where else can you lose pounds by making pounds?

The essential difference between this event and a typical sponsored run is that, for the latter, entrants have to enter the event, sign up sponsors, take part in the event and then collect and pay over the sponsorship monies.

For this event, all that the entrants need to do is to simply enter and then take part – the charity funding comes from elsewhere.

You can also use the event to raise additional sponsorship for your own charities if you so wish. This can be achieved by asking friends and family to sponsor you whilst you do the laps. This will mean that more charities can benefit from the same event.

Remember – When you put your BEST FOOT FORWARD, every lap that you complete will release £1 from the charity pot, which has been contributed by the generosity of the event Patrons in order to help the vital work of the three event charities.

10,000 laps should release the total pot.
