At Tettenhall College, boarding life extends well beyond the school day, offering a vibrant and enriching experience for all boarders. Boarders have access to a wide range of activities seven days a week, alongside regular trips and outings. This ensures a healthy balance between academic focus and personal development within a supportive and engaging environment.
Formal study sessions, known as Prep, are held every weekday evening, on Saturday mornings, and again on Sunday evenings. During these sessions, pupils’ complete homework assigned by their teachers, while Sixth Form students use the time for independent study and research.
Evenings in boarding
After participating in after-school clubs during the week, boarders enjoy some free time before dinner and Prep. Following Prep, they can unwind with a range of recreational options, including sports, music practice, enjoying the scenic school grounds, or simply relaxing with friends in the boarding house.
Boarders wishing to leave campus during the evening must obtain permission. They may visit the local village just outside the school gates, which offers cafes, restaurants, a convenience store, and various independent shops. See more about our location here. Older boarders are given as much independence as appropriate, however all excursions are subject to approval by the Head of Boarding.
Off-campus activities
While most activities take place on-site using the school’s extensive facilities, we have a valued partnership with a leading Tennis Academy located only minutes away. Students aged 13 and above may opt to join the academy as an additional enrichment opportunity.
Weekend trips and experiences
Our weekend programme includes a diverse range of trips and outings offered on Saturdays, Sundays, or both. Each year we work closely with our boarders to update these outings so there is a lot of choice and opportunities for our boarders to experience new things. From go-karting to cinema trips, theme parks to cultural interests, paintballing to visiting London, our boarders are never short of an exciting experience whether that be locally or further afield.
