Admissions & Fees

What age can my child join Tettenhall College?

The college takes pupils from age 2 in Nursery through to age 18 in Sixth Form, across Nursery & Pre-School (ages 2-4), Pre-Prep (ages 4-7), Prep (ages 8-11), Senior School and Sixth Form.

Most children join in September, though mid-year admission is considered when places are available.

Is there an entrance assessment?

Years 7 to 9 sit a College Entrance Assessment in January before September entry, run with Cambridge CEM and covering numeracy, literacy, non-verbal reasoning and creative writing, alongside team exercises. Year 12 entry requires a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 5 or above (grade 6 in Maths for Further Maths or Science A-levels) plus an interview with the Headmaster.

What are the fees for 2026/27? Per term?

Reception £3,748 (£2,018 with 15-hour funding), Year 1 – £4,191, Year 2 – £4,531, Years 3 to 8 –  £5,326, Years 9 to 11 – £7,128, and Year 12 or 13 – £4,436 each under the college’s newer Sixth Form fee structure.

A registration fee of £115 (UK) or £175 (non-UK) and an acceptance deposit of £500 (UK) or £1,000 (non-UK) also apply.

Are there sibling or family discounts?

Yes. A 10% discount applies for a second child, 15% for a third and 20% for a fourth. A 10% discount is also available for children of former pupils (Old Tettenhallians), and a 1.25% discount applies to families who pay a full year’s fees in advance.

Do you offer scholarships or bursaries?

Scholarships for entry to Years 7, 9 and 12 are awarded on ability across five categories: Academic, Sport, Performing Arts, Art and Music. Bursaries are separate and means-tested rather than ability-based; families with a combined income below £60,000 may apply, with awards varying by circumstance.

What are the boarding fees, and can my child board flexibly?

Weekly boarding is £9,583 per term (Years 5 to 9) or £13,810 (Years 10 to 13); full boarding is £12,738 or £16,666 respectively. Flexi-boarding is charged per night, at £57 (Years 5 to 9) or £68 (Years 10 to 13), and is a popular option for families wanting occasional stays rather than a full commitment.

Academic Life & Results

How did pupils do in the 2025 GCSEs and A-levels?

GCSE results:
87.4% at 9-4 and 25.5% at 9-7.
100% pass rates in a range of subjects including Higher Maths, Biology, Computer Science, Art and Drama, with individual pupils achieving as many as seven grade 9s.

A Level results:
95.4% at A*-E and 43.1% at A*-B.
Pupils secured places at Bristol, Bath, Exeter and Leicester, alongside international offers from Bocconi Milan and the University of Amsterdam.

What is the Preparatory Pathways Programme?

It provides curriculum continuity for Prep pupils from Nursery through to Year 6, alongside the Tettenhall College International Football Academy as a specialist strand.

What subjects are available at GCSE and A Level?

The college offers a broad GCSE curriculum alongside an International GCSE Programme, and a wide range of A-level subjects.

What is the TC Futures Programme?

TC Futures is the Sixth Form’s university and careers guidance programme, covering UCAS applications, the Extended Project Qualification, university aptitude test preparation and a dedicated Pathways Programme.

Who can join the international Football Academy?

Both day and international pupils from the age of 7 – 19 can join the football academy (Years 3-13). There are three pathways available: Developmental Pathway, Academy Pathway and the Elite Pathway. Anyone who wishes to join the football academy must be enrolled as a day or boarding pupil at Tettenhall College.

Early Years & Prep School

What does the Prep School offer, and what facilities are available?

Prep covers Nursery through to Year 6 across Nursery & Pre-School, Pre-Prep and Upper Prep. Our school is located within a beautiful 33-acre campus. Our pupils have access to 11-acres of ancient woodland, a Victorian theatre, a stunning library, range of dedicated science labs, computer suites, art rooms, an indoor swimming pool, sports fields, squash courts and more.

Is nursery funding accepted, and what does it cost?

The Nursery fee schedule offers 2.5 to 5 day options at both “Adventurers” (age 2 to 3) and “Explorers” (age 3 to 4) stages, with separate pricing for families using the Government’s 15-hour and 30-hour funding entitlements.

What does a typical day look like for a Prep School pupil?

All pupils in Prep School with have daily English and maths lessons, usually in the mornings. These lessons are followed by a wide and varied range of subjects that may include PE, modern foreign languages like French and Spanish, and a weekly session in the much-loved Forest School – all taught by subject specialist teachers.

Art and performing arts are a highlight for many pupils at Tettenhall College and pupils in key stage 2 will experience each one at least once a week.  The theme of our subjects is often linked by a key topic. From inventions in Year 1 to Rain Forests in Year 5.

We offer an Enrichment programme for pupils in key stage 2. Key life skills like cooking, building a jigsaw puzzle or learning how to play chess are some of the many options.

Pastoral care is a priority at Tettenhall College and spending time on the playground with peers is important. However, some pupils may prefer to attend one of the lunchtime clubs. For example, popping to the library to quietly read or reflect, playing badminton or chatting to friends while constructing Lego.

Formal lessons finish at 4:10pm but the day doesn’t finish there. With many clubs on offer, pupils can choose to engage in activities like orchestra, choir, sport or STEM.

Every Thursday, pupils in Year 6 take part in the Enrichment Programme and finish school at 4.10pm.

Boarding

What are the boarding houses at Tettenhall College?

School House is the boys ‘ boarding house. In the heart of the original College building, School House offers a range of single, twin and 3-4 bedrooms, alongside a games and cinema common room and kitchen area.

Studies is adjacent to School House and is the boarding area for our most senior students. Studies offer single and twin rooms in a peaceful setting.

Both School House and Studies is led by Mr Matthew Jackson.

Thorneycroft House is the girls’ boarding house, led by Miss Emma Galloway. Thorneycroft has a lounge, kitchen and a mixture of single and twin bedrooms. It also has 3 – 4 bedrooms for junior girls.

Pastoral Care & Wellbeing

What pastoral support is in place for my child?

At Tettenhall College, your child’s wellbeing is at the heart of their school experience. Every pupil is known and supported as an individual, with a strong pastoral network in place to ensure they always have someone to turn to.

Each pupil has a Form Tutor who provides daily support and guidance, alongside our Assistant Head (Pastoral), Heads of Section, House Parents and Boarding Tutors, who work together to provide a caring and consistent support network.

We also encourage pupils to have a voice in shaping school life. Both the Preparatory School and Senior School have Student Councils, giving pupils the opportunity to share their views and contribute to the wider school community. Our Student Wellbeing Prefect champions positive mental health, leads wellbeing initiatives and works alongside staff to promote a supportive and inclusive environment.

Our House system further strengthens this sense of community. Every pupil belongs to a House and regularly takes part in events and activities that encourage friendship, teamwork, belonging and healthy competition.

What wellbeing support is available?

An onsite Health Centre led by qualified nurses, counselling for pupils needing additional support, a dedicated calm space called The Pod, and a Peer Mentoring Programme pairing younger pupils with trained Sixth Form mentors.

What is the college's approach to safeguarding and behaviour?

The college publishes its Safeguarding, Behaviour, Exclusions and Supervision of Pupils policies, and a Pupil Code of Conduct reinforces shared values of respect and responsibility. The 2024 ISI inspection notes that “staff provide very effective support and guidance for pupils in accordance with the school’s aim to be warm, friendly and caring.”

Practical & Everyday

What are the term dates for 2026/27?

Autumn term runs from 7 September to 16 December 2026, with half term from 16 October to 2 November.

Spring term runs from 5 January to 25 March 2027, with half term from 12 to 22 February.

Summer term runs from 12 April to 7 July 2027, with half term from 28 May to 7 June.

What time does the school day start and finish?

Prep School start at 8.30am and finish at 4.10pm. Every Thursday, pupils in Year 6 take part in the Enrichment Programme and finish school at 4.45pm.

Breakfast club is available for pupils in Prep School from 7.30am should an earlier drop off be required and after school care is available until 6pm each day.

Senior School and Sixth Form start at 8.30am and finish at 4.10pm. Every Thursday pupils take part in the Enrichment Programme and finish school at 4.45pm.

Is there any additional after school stuff for seniors?

Senior School pupils (including Sixth Form) can stop after school to complete independent study or complete homework, supervised by a member of staff in the Study Centre from 4.10pm – 6pm daily (at no extra cost).

Academic development sessions run through the week at both lunchtimes and after school.

Sport plays a vital role in life at Tettenhall College, encouraging pupils to stay active, develop new skills and enjoy being part of a team. Pupils in both the Prep School and Senior School have the opportunity to take part in a range of after-school sports activities.

Activities vary each term and may include hockey, rugby, fitness sessions and a variety of other sports, providing pupils with opportunities to try new activities and develop their sporting interests.

How does my child get to and from school?

Daily minibus services are available across the region. We cover many areas including Bridgnorth, Shifnal, Telford, Newport, Gailey, Kingswinford, Bilston and Walsall, with drivers escorting Prep pupils to and from classrooms. The school can usually accommodate specific stops along a route. A yearly pass gives a 5% discount on the standard termly rate.

What is the uniform, and where do I buy it?
