Tettenhall College appoints new Head of Preparatory Division

Posted: 29th June 2021

Tettenhall College is delighted to announce that Mr Justin Gomersall has been appointed as Head of its Preparatory Division and will take up his new position in January 2022.

A committed educator with a wealth of experience in the early and primary years, Justin is currently the Deputy Head at Nishkam Primary School in Wolverhampton, a multi-faith school for boys and girls aged 4 – 11 years. His early teaching years were spent working in an Oxfordshire state maintained primary school where he led the Science, PE and Gifted & Talented provision. This was followed by an international move to Switzerland as Director of Science, where he worked in an outstanding boarding school. This opportunity allowed Justin to develop a global perspective on independent education in both a day and boarding setting.

Prior to joining Nishkam Primary School, Justin was Deputy Head of the Preparatory School at Chase Grammar School in Cannock. His primary responsibilities were associated with assessment and learning, alongside driving forward high achieving children to fulfil their potential and obtain the best academic results. During his tenure at Chase Grammar School, Justin worked closely alongside inspectors, in order to gain a rounded insight into what makes an excellent school.

Outside of the classroom Justin is an avid adventure cyclist, regularly partaking in bike packing tours around the wilds of Great Britain. A keen hill walker also, he enjoys spending time in the great outdoors with his family.

Tettenhall College’s Headmaster Christopher McAllister commented, “We are all delighted to welcome Justin, his wife Lizzie and their family to the Tettenhall College community. The selection process offered us an extremely strong field of experienced candidates, however Justin’s commitment to the vision and values of our School shone through. These are exciting times here at the School and I am eager to work with Justin as we deliver on an ambitious Development Plan, centring around the College’s 160th anniversary.”

Justin added “I feel humbled and privileged to have the opportunity to join such a prestigious institution. It is exciting to be joining a team with a clear drive for academic excellence and unwavering commitment to developing ambitious, well rounded individuals.”
