The pupils had a fantastic time at Kenilworth castle. They were all given the responsibility of acting as tour guides for a certain time period of the castle. Each group brought the castle to life with their knowledge and impassioned presentations. They charted the birth of the castle and the reasons why it was needed at this location during the medieval times. During this time, John of Gaunts great hall could rival any building in Europe for its size and extravagance. The pupils then painted a wonderful picture of the castle during its heyday in Elizabethan England. This was when Robert Dudley greatly extended the castle in order to impress. He was at the time trying to woo Queen Elizabeth I into marriage. Lastly the pupils explained its demise under the Stuart period and the reasons for its current ruinous state.
