Entry and Induction Days
We offer a flexible entrance policy and pupils may enter at any age and during any term.
Pupils are invited to join us for a day visit, during which they are assessed. This allows them the freedom to experience the full range of subjects on offer, meet staff and pupils and make friends. If a pupil is considering a boarding place then we offer the opportunity to spend a night in the Boarding House.
Year 7 Entry
For entry into this year group the assessments consist of English, Mathematics and Verbal Reasoning.
Year 8, 9 and 10 Entry
Pupils sit entry assessments in English and Mathematics.
Sixth-Form
The academic entry requirement for a place in our sixth-form is a minimum of 5 GCSE grades A*-C. Applicants will also be interviewed by the Headmaster or the Head of Sixth Form and we will require a reference from the student's current school. Pupils are invited to join our Lower Sixth for a day's trial, having selected the subjects that they may like to study at sixth-form level. This provides an invaluable introduction to the life of a sixth-form student.
Academic Scholarships
Academic scholarships are awarded at 11+, 13+ and 16+ for entry into the Sixth Form. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of assessment or examination, a report from the candidate's school and an interview with the Headmaster. In the case of internal candidates, their previous record at the school will be taken into account. For further details and an application form, please contact the Headmaster's Office.
Music, Art and Sports Scholarships
Scholarships for Art, Music and Sport are available to candidates who are academically sound and demonstrate outstanding ability in Music, Art or Sport. Full details of these awards and application forms are available from the Headmaster's Office.
Means-tested Bursaries
Means-tested bursaries may be awarded to pupils whose parents are on low incomes. Applications for means-tested bursaries must be accompanied by a Confidential Financial Circumstances Form completed by the candidate's parents. The clergy are also eligible for a bursary. Full details are available from the Headmaster's Office.
Forces Bursaries
The parental contribution to fees for children of Service personnel is capped at 10% of our fee levels.
