DESCRIPTION:We are thrilled to welcome Ralph Porrett – guitarist\, singer\, and songwriter on the UK jazz scene\, for his first performance at Tettenhall College on Tuesday 6th May 2025\, 7pm! \nKnown for being featured among the five finalists in BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year 2020 and 2022\, as well as for his melodic guitar improvisation and distinctive songwriting\, Ralph masterfully blends jazz harmony with a singer-songwriter’s storytelling sensibility. For this special performance\, he teams up with drummer and electronic artist Tim Davies to present a stunning collection of brand-new music. \nBiography: \nRalph crafts intricate yet deeply emotive music\, drawing inspiration from artists like Sting\, Bon Iver and Ben Howard. \nA finalist in BBC Young Jazz Musician (2020 and 2022)\, Ralph is the only guitarist to have reached this stage\, performing original compositions at Cadogan Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall\, both broadcast on BBC Four. His playing fuses the lyricism of Mike Walker and Bill Frisell with the atmospheric depth of contemporary influences such as John Mayer and Mk.gee\, creating a sound world that moves effortlessly between genres. \nRalph’s versatility has led him to perform at the Royal Albert Hall\, Ronnie Scott’s\, and major UK jazz festivals. DESCRIPTION:Years 7\, 8\, 9 Entrance Assessment\nSaturday 25th January 2025\, 8.30am – 12.30pm \nThe Entrance Assessment Day is for pupils looking to join Tettenhall College in Year 7\, 8 or 9 in September 2025. The Entrance Assessment will take place on Saturday 25th January and on this day pupils will spend a full morning with us at the school. \nIn groups they will complete the following: \n\nThe formal Entrance Assessment. This is done in the computer rooms and is an assessment delivered by Cambridge CEM (Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring). The assessments cover literacy\, numeracy and non-verbal reasoning.\nA handwritten creative writing task.\nA carousel of activities that have been carefully designed to allow us to assess teamwork\, listening to instructions\, and how children approach new challenges.\n\nFor assessments for a Sport\, Art\, Music or Performing Arts Scholarship Award pupils will be invited to attend an appointment in the week prior to\, or immediately after the Entrance Assessment. \nIf you are applying from overseas\, please speak to the Admissions team and we will be pleased to make arrangements for the Entrance Assessment to be completed in your home country. \nRegistration is essential. However\, there is parking available nearby in the village. To reach the venue\, you can enter through the main gates in Tettenhall Village and take a short stroll through the magical forest\, followed by a descent down a set of 48 unpaved\, steep steps. Please keep this in mind when planning your access\, especially with pushchairs and make sure to wear appropriate footwear. \nIf you or anyone you’re coming with has accessibility needs or needs a bit of extra help\, please reach out to us. We’re all about making sure everyone can enjoy the event to the fullest. We are delighted to announce that this year’s lecture will be given by Mr Tim Beech\, TC Governor\, parent\, radio presenter and local history enthusiast and Ms Penny Smith representing Friends of Wolverhampton Archives.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTim has done lots of work researching the history of Towers and has unearthed some terrific images of the building as it was during Lt. Col. Thorneycroft’s time. Penny has tremendous knowledge about Lt. Col. DESCRIPTION:Tettenhall College Summer Camp is back!  \nMonday 22nd July – Friday 23rd August 2024\, 8.30am – 4.30pm \nLet your child embark on an unforgettable adventure this summer at Tettenhall College Summer Camp! Our camp offers a unique blend of excitement and learning for children aged 5-14 years old. \nSummer Camp provides children with a fun filled experience where they will take part in a range of activities. This includes sports which entails mini sports competitions using our excellent facilities\, scavenger hunts\, arts & crafts. performing arts in our beautiful Victorian theatre and launching this year is water safety skills where children will receive a Swim England certificate and/or a badge.
