November 2004
Youngsters from a Wolverhampton school
experienced their first night away from home with a sleepover
in their classroom.
25 6 year olds from the Drive School at Tettenhall College
arrived at school kitted out with their duvets, pyjamas and
teddies ready for a night at school with their friends and
teachers. The idea behind the sleepover came from parent Mr
Esmond Jones who felt that as well as being a fun experience
for the youngsters it would also help them gain in confidence.
As part of the sleepover the youngsters went on a night time
tour of the grounds with Head Groundsman Alex Poile and were
read a bed time story by Deputy Head Teacher Sarah Fisher
. The highlight for many of the children was the chance to
have breakfast with some of the older children in the Boarding
House the following morning.
Head of Lower School Paul Cochrane said “ Both the
staff and children have had a really good time. For young
children their first night away from home is always going
to be a bit daunting but they have all really enjoyed it”.
