Pastoral Support
The opportunity for close pastoral supervision is encouraged by placing pupils in forms according to their house. Form teachers oversee a pupil's general progress and welfare and are the first point of contact for parents. Small classes enable pupils and their teachers to establish friendly and trusting relationships. Parents are encouraged to visit the School for all kinds of events and there are Parents' Evenings to discuss work and progress once a term for each age group.
Boarders are cared for by a residential team of teaching staff who have received additional training in matters pertaining to the pastoral care of pupils living away from home. The School Nurses cater for all the medical needs of the boarders and provide first aid and other advice on health matters.
A peer mentoring scheme run by the sixth-form prefects is another valuable source of advice and support for the younger pupils.
Specialist Careers staff offer advice and assistance on making important decisions about such things as choice of GCSE options, Sixth Form subjects, University courses or Careers.
