All areas of the school are connected to
the computer network so that staff and pupils can access their
files or the Internet from wherever they are working.
Filtered broadband Internet access means that research is
as fast and safe as we can possibly make it.
The library catalogue is also available on the network so
that it can be browsed from any location.
Industry-standard Microsoft software is used at all levels
in the school, teaching pupils skills that can be transferred
to university and the world of work.
In addition, specialist educational software is used to back
up more traditional teaching methods, and digital projectors
are able to present interactive screen-based information to
the whole class at once.
Add to that a range of equipment such as scanners, digital
cameras and digital video cameras and our students have a
wide range of essential tools available to make learning both
interesting and exciting.
The Library has lots to offer both staff
and pupils of Tettenhall College:
- The library is a lovely spacious environment with plenty
of tables to use for study or to read a book.
- The library is open from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm every school
day.
- Pupils can borrow books for a three-week period from a
wide selection of 10,000 items, including both informational
books and books for pleasure.
- Pupils are issued with a Library Welcome Pack, which includes
a guide to the library, a plan of the library, a library
ticket and a bookmark.
- There are separate sections within the Library for both
Lower and Upper School.
- New books are regularly purchased and suggestions for
new stock are often taken from pupils and staff.
- The library offers a selection of newspapers and magazines
to read, including New Scientist, Marketing, The Beano,
Match Weekly, Smash Hits, Top Gear, Mizz, White Dwarf, The
Daily Telegraph, The Times, The Wolverhampton Express and
Star and The Daily Express.
- The library has a suite of computers, which offer access
to the school network, the Internet and Microsoft Office
applications - such as Word, Excel, Access, and Publisher.
- There are activities at lunchtime for Lower School pupils
- including making bookmarks, greetings cards, calendars,
word searches and puzzles.
- Lower School pupils can become Library Monitors and help
with library duties.
- There is a monthly competition for all pupils, which relates
to a book display in the library - and there are lots of
great prizes to be won every month.
- Stationery items can be purchased from the small stationery
shop in the library - everything from pens and pencils to
tights and tissues!
- Photocopying facilities are also available in the library
- both for colour and black and white copies.
We are very fortunate in having some excellent
sports facilities.
Among these are a heated indoor swimming pool, a Sports Hall,
Squash Courts, Tennis and Netball Courts, plus Rugby, Football
and Hockey pitches and two Cricket squares
