The Sixth Form is the highlight of a pupil’s
school career.
Two years in the Sixth Form serve as a bridge between school
and university and enable students to face the challenges
of Higher Education with confidence.
At Tettenhall College we offer a wide range of academic opportunities.
Sixth formers are able to choose combinations of subjects
from nineteen options at AS and A level.
Excellent teaching is reinforced by structured programmes
of independent study and regular assessment. Our class sizes
average just six pupils, which allows us to offer a high level
of interactive teaching.
While the pursuit of good A level grades is the core business
of the Sixth Form, a sixth former will not derive the full
educational benefits from their last two years at school unless
they participate fully in other areas of community life.
There are endless sporting, cultural and artistic opportunities
and sixth formers are encouraged to accept positions of responsibility
within the School.
Our teaching staff provide first class support with university
entrance including coaching in interview techniques. Sixth
formers have access to their own careers section within the
library and each pupil has an allocated member of staff to
assist with UCAS applications.
Each Sixth former has their own individual private study
area. A modern library provides an alternative study area
and access to around 10,000 volumes and other research material
including networked computers with Internet access. Café
6 is a bright, modern location exclusively for the use of
sixth formers and provides the perfect place to meet up with
friends.
Entry to the Sixth Form is normally conditional upon a minimum
of five GCSE passes at Grade C or above.
