Dorothy Alexander, who, with her late husband Ian, taught at T.C. in the early 40s, now lives at Burghill, Hereford. She writes: ‘I remember overseeing the Junior games on the lawn of Towers soon after it was bought. That must have been in the summer of 1943.

We saw quite a lot of the Field - Hydes when they retired to Church Stretton. I was impressed by the care with which Douglas looked after Kathleen. I was F-H’s first appointment after he became Head. I must have been the only member of staff who had slept in one of Kathleen’s nighties in their house! I cannot remember why I stayed unexpectedly. It may have been an Air Raid that prevented my going back to College.

We visited the Ponds once after they retired to Herefordshire and we saw quite a lot of the Theobalds.’

Kirk Andrews (1995-2001) will be performing in a Middlesborough theatre during the 2007-8 pantomime season as one of the brokers’ brothers in ‘Cinderella’. He has also had T.V. work in ‘Crimewatch’, taking part in the reconstruction of the sad case of Jack McCleod found dead in the river at Leamington.

Graham Aston continues to spend a lot of time each year amongst the less fortunate people in Paraguay, giving practical help to remote communities. Three of his recent pictures are printed below.

Matthew Baker (1983 – 1989) e-mails: Am currently living in Rindleford, Bridgnorth, running the family business with my younger brother James. Still enjoy my sport and fitness, currently rowing at Bridgnorth Rowing Club. Remain in touch with a few O.T.s

Andrew Barnett (1988-1992) e-mails:  Now working for Taylor Made Golf as National and Corporate Sales Manager. Not enough time to play golf though- too busy! Married to Sarah in 2004 – we’ve just had a baby girl called Lois.

Terry Bennett (1958-65) is now retired from teaching and enjoying voluntary gardening for the National Trust.

Tim Berg (1970-79) e-mails: Having graduated from Lancaster University I moved down to London, training as an accountant. Spent two years in New York (and the waistline shows it!) before moving back in 1989. Moved firms in 1996 after a brief period in venture capital and became head of their music and sports teams- unlikely as that is. Became fed up with the profession and partnership in 2005 so I left to become freelance and now work with a company that produces promotional events, a T.V. production company, as a fund manager specializing in media. Life has been fun and the no kids, pets etc. has been rather replaced by Helen – however, definitely no kids. Currently based in North London and still playing the occasional game of rugby. A recent profile sits on ‘accounts eight’ if interested.

Lou Bradley (1991-93) e-mails: Just completing my second year of teaching in a delightful secondary school in sunny Wolverhampton! Thank goodness it is nearly the summer holidays. I have been married to Rhodsey for two years now and we are off to New Zealand for a month’s holiday in August.

A few weeks later he and his friend Natasha were in the W. Indies from where they wrote: ‘Am now wintering in the Dominican Republic partaking of all that inclusive malarkey. There are copious amounts of rum all for the taking, but the food becomes tedious after a while. So you venture out into the real world, away from the herd.’

On a business trip to America this July he sent this cheery message: ‘Hello from the New World; I am in New York visiting some clients. Have started selling my own brand of been here in the U.S.A. Tomorrow am off to Miami.

Mark Goodson (1983-91) is manager of Marks and Spencer in Oxford St. London.

Robert Stephen Green (1955-62), Dordogne, France: I look forward to receiving the T.C. magazine, to hearing news of old friends. I was taught maths by Mr. Chown and spent five years in class, sitting behind Keith Grant-Pearce and in front of Julian Gronow. I was a founder member of the O.T.G.S. and an active member until I retired to France 4 years ago, with my wife of 37 years, Brenda. We live in a XVth century stone farmhouse, set in 5 acres of woodland. Our eldest daughter, Rachel, husband Neal and 2 grandsons live in a house in the grounds and run a successful gite business. Our youngest daughter, Joanne has a G.P. practice in Torbay. We are only a few hours from the Alps and the Med., so a good place to live. I think the magazine is a credit to the school, keep up the good work and best wishes to all who remember me.

My address: La Boursaudiere 85410, Thouarsais-Bouildroux, France.

Nicholas Vaughan-Baker (1928-36) wrote in January: I hope you had a pleasant break and enjoyed Christmas. Looking back it seemed to arrive and pass quickly by. Regretfully this festivity has become so commercialized with the true spirit of the religious festival pushed into the background for many of us. The media hasten to report the record sales and financial profits of the retail trade, but fail to dwell upon the religious aspect of worship and attendance during the holiday.

The Tettenhallian magazine is now a fine publication with many items about life in the College backed up with innumerable photographs. I am remembering the smaller and leaner magazine which we had in my day at school. I note the considerable amount of time devoted to the arts and crafts at Tettenhall, far more than in previous years perhaps.

Edward Vodden (1985-88): On 15th October 2006 Edward completed the Amsterdam Marathon in just over four hours. After leaving T.C. he went to the University of the South West at Bristol where he changed courses from Biological Science to IT. He now lives in Islington and works as an IT consultant for BP Gas.

Tim Walker (1966-74) lives with his wife Yvonne and two children in Newport Pagnall, Bucks. He is the joint leaseholder of The Cock Inn: they have one dog and enjoy running a busy country pub together.

Still making the pilgrimage to the Molineux every other week, (Dan and Jessi are both proud/suffering fans too! Poor kids!). I am in contact with a handful of O.Ts but would love to hear from more – in particular Gary Richards and Pete Riley.

Kim Ward (1968-76) and Vicki (nee Legge   1974-76) e-mailed: Kim and I have been married for 26 years. We have moved around but now been in Warwick for the last 12years.   We have twin boys aged 22years. Kim is CEO of Hampson Industries PLC and I practice part time as Specialist Practitioner attached to a GP surgery. We both enjoy various activities including golf, tennis, and bridge and visiting Twickenham, (we used to skive off Saturday morning school to go down to watch the rugby!!) We have recently attained our Power Boat level 2 qualification and all set to undertake various sailing courses this summer as we will be spending more time in Devonshire on the coast.

Simon Whild (1973-77) is a freelance writer/journalist who is updating Geoffrey Hancock’s book ‘The History of Tettenhall College’. He is, of course, working in close consultation with Geoff and the College.
