Activities
A vast range of different activities are available to the pupils, depending on their specific interests.
Music plays an important role in the life of the School and a large proportion of pupils learn one or more instrument. Instrumental groups of all kinds practise together during the week and Choirs perform in concerts both in and outside of school throughout the year. The pupils are invited to support the professional musical productions which are held at The Grand Theatre in Wolverhampton on a regular basis. The School Choir has also been invited to perform a concert at Disneyland Paris in each of the last four years. A musical production takes place each year during the Summer Term and all pupils are encouraged to participate either in the production or in the varied roles behind the scenes.
The Art department is well equipped and has a strong reputation for young artists who specialise in different styles. In addition to drawing and painting, pupils are encouarged to try pottery, sculpture, printing, photography and computer-aided design. The displays around the school reveal work of great variety and imagination. The pupils participate in a House Art Competition each year.
All pupils take part in some sporting activities and we are very fortunate in having excellent facilities which encourage pupils to adopt an active and healthy lifestyle. These include a heated indoor swimming pool, Sports Hall, Squash Courts, Tennis and Netball Courts, Rugby and Football pitches, two Cricket squares, and a well equipped sports pavilion. Rugby and Football are played in the winter months by the boys. Cricket and tennis are the principal sports in the summer. Hockey and Netball in the winter and Rounders, Tennis and Cricket in the summer are the main Girls' sports. Other sports available include Swimming, Badminton, Cross-Country, Trampolining, Table Tennis and fitness training. A significiant number of pupils represent the School in Sports Academies, or in City, County and Regional teams.
